Everything You Need to Know About Apple’s Big Spring Announcement

In a star-studded press event held at its Cupertino, California headquarters, Apple announced some very exciting new services. With special appearances by Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carrell, the company introduced its video streaming service, Apple TV+, along with Apple News+, Apple Arcade, and Apple Card.

So, what do you need to know about each of these new services?

Apple TV+

  • Available this Fall, the online video streaming service will be ad free, available online and offline, and will feature original film and TV content produced by Apple. Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carrell, and Oprah Winfrey are among the few A-listers attached to Apple productions

  • No more bouncing from app to app, Apple TV+ will take the subscriptions the user already has (HBO Go, Starz, Showtime, etc.) and store it in one place

  • Users will be able to subscribe to a channel and browse through all the content made by that channel inside the Apple TV app

  • Additionally, the new TV app will allow users to subscribe to individual streaming services, such as HBO Go, allowing users to watch sports and shows through a feature on the app called Apple TV Channels

Apple News+

  • Apple News+ will include magazine content for $9.99 per month in the United States and $12.99 per month in Canada

  • Apple is now offering a month-long free trial of the service

  • Users of the service will be able to view the full past and current issues of magazines optimized for Macs, iPads, and iPhones. The service will allow users to download a magazine or save articles

  • Over 300 magazines are included, along with access to hundreds of leading newspapers

  • Compared to other major news services such as Google and Facebook, Apple News+ will eliminate advertisers from being able to track users inside the app

Apple Arcade

  • Available Fall 2019, Apple Arcade will provide users with unlimited access to innovative games with one subscription and the ability to jump from iPhone to iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

  • Another exciting feature is the option to play offline anywhere and share gaming with friends and family

Apple Card

  • Available Summer 2019, the Apple Card is a new credit card with no hidden fees that can be used through the iPhone in the Wallet app or the Apple designed titanium card

  • Once users sign down they will be able to start using the card right away with Apple Pay. With every purchase made, the user gets Daily Cash, which is really cash that can be spent however the user would like right from their iPhone

  • Users will be able to see how much balance they have left and when payment is due. Additionally, Apple has integrated with Apple Maps, allowing the credit card user to see where a purchase was made

  • Every item purchased is categorized (Food & Drinks, Shopping, Entertainment, etc) to help users keep track of what they are spending money on

We’re pretty excited about all these new innovative services, which are you most excited about?
